According to a report by the Economic Times Reliance Jio is considering launching a 4G LTE ready feature phone that would be costing at an unbelievable price of Rs.999. The phone would be fully capable of accessing high speed 4G internet, the Jio digital store and play music. While it may lack some of the functionalities with a view in keeping affordable pricing it might make some changes in Google’s Android. The changes are mainly concerned with the functionalities of the workings of Google keyboard and the front facing camera.
According to survey statistics the largest part of India’s telecom subscriber base at 65% still uses feature phones. The prices of these phones fall to about roughly Rs.3000 as the base price. This price may be cheap but adoption rate of smartphones has been weak. Currently Reliance is already selling phones under the name of the brand LYF with a low price tag of Rs.3,499. Additionally these phones come bundled with the free Jio sims. Hence the launch of the new phones will remarkably cause a new shift with a Rs 999 price tag more and more people will go mobile.

After the disruption of telecom with Jio Reliance is now set to disrupt the entire mobile phone communication with these phones. Reports suggest that Reliance Jio is currently working with many domestic manufacturers like Lava. It is possible that the phones may have a price range between Rs 1000 to Rs 1500. These phones might carry the brands of both Jio and Lava and will be available to a wider market.
